Hampden County Special Response Team
Sergeant Sean Knox | (413) 583-8305 ext.2213
The mission of the Hampden County Special Response Team (H.C.S.R.T.) is to offer tactical support to Hampden County in addressing critical incidents, extreme emergencies, and pre-planned law enforcement activities, such as High-Risk Search and/or arrest warrant service. A key focus of the H.C.S.R.T. is facilitating the safe removal of individuals from hazardous situations, prioritizing this opportunity above all else.
To achieve this mission, the H.C.S.R.T. employs various methods, including the utilization of the team’s internal Crisis Negotiation Team (C.NT.). This specialized team is dedicated to de-escalating critical interventions by employing skilled negotiation techniques and strategic communication. The H.C.S.R.T. aims to resolve situations peacefully and efficiently, minimizing the need for additional tactical interventions.
The effective resolution of such incidents is frequently credited to a well-coordinated team response. Through collaboration, the Ludlow Police Department partners with the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department and neighboring towns and cities. Officers are assigned to the Hampden County Special Response Team, extending response capabilities across Hampden County.
Members of the Hampden County Special Response Team undergo additional tactical and advanced training and complete accredited or equivalent courses through the National Tactical Officer Association (NTOA). The H.C.S.R.T. maintains a steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, acting as a valuable community resource in successfully managing any critical incident.
Currently, Sergeant Sean Knox (Ludlow PD) assumes the role of Team Commander, overseeing the operations of the H.C.S.R.T.
